Canyon View

What is the most impressive hotel near the Grand Canyon? Do you have a view?
Hotels with view
In South Basin (the most developed and most visited one), there are some accommodations that are right on the edge, but it is difficult to get a good view from the room (see below). All houses in the park was run by Xanterra in conjunction with the park service. Note that because it is a barrel (compared with mountain views), you have to look down to see most of the details and as a result even if your room is near the edge, you will not see much more than the sky unless you get up near the window. Moreover, unless there is a nearly full moon, you can not see a lot of his room at night other than a sea of darkness. What I'm trying to say is that it really does not matter what the view from your room is as long as you can walk to the edge. That's the best way to experience the canyon from the rim anyway – sit right on the edge of the breeze, seeing the light on the rocks or listening to crows. Better yet, stroll along the paths of the rim side to see the canyon from different perspectives. The cannon is definitely a place outdoors. This this the cottages side of the rim in the South Basin are: El Tovar – Built in 1905, is the oldest, largest and most historic lodges. Many (but not all) of the rooms have some view of the canyon, though mostly at an angle. It is also one of the most expensive lodges and rooms can be a little small (but beautiful). Thunderbird and Kachina Lodges – Built in the 1960s, the rooms are like hotel rooms and modern and all rooms facing directly into the canyon (which probably have the best views, if the opinions are his main concern). However, they can be expensive and do not have the old flavor of the lodges others. Bright Angel Lodge and cabins – Built by famed architect Mary Colter barrel in the 1930s, this is one of my favorites and always a center of activity (Love of the great stone fireplace.) The rooms are very reasonably priced, but a little small and some have shared bathrooms. Just off the rim, but only a few rooms have views. The best option of lodging at the southern edge are the handful of log cabins next to the historic house and right edges. Some of them have excellent views of the canyon (of your own cabin!). The biggest disadvantage – because there are only a few of them (and even less with a view) are very difficult to get reservations. Maswik Lodge – A set of very modern, but not low-cost-hotel type of rooms built in the 1970s (but renewed recently.) Not on the edge, but just 5 minutes away. Reasonably priced and the only refuge where finding parking is a hassle. All of the above are houses in the more developed South Rim. In less developed and less crowded North ass (which is only open during the summer) there are only a shelter that has a number of cabins and a row of rooms and hotel-semi-modern (I prefer the cottage). None of them have great canyon views, but the whole area around the hostel is very nice. Note that you want to make reservations well in advance for any of these locations (see website below).
